When I saw this title linked on the news page, I thought this might be some kind of Keep on the Shadowfell tie-in. Obviously, it is not.

It looks like it could be an interesting product! The flavour described above certainly captured my attention. Unfortunately, I play 4E now, and I gather that this isn't compatible.

BTW, the name "Wizard of Shadowfell" reminds me of "Elminster of Shadowdale"; is this a coincidence? The description of the class doesn't seem out-of-line with this estimation, either.

I'm guessing that since this class is designed for 3.5, you may not have been paying much attention to 4E. The Shadowfell is a new plane used heavily in 4E, being a dark reflection of the real world, filled with evil creatures and undead. Many people will look at the name of your product and think that it relates to that.
That's what I thought when I read the title.

"Wizard of Shadowfell" reminds me of "Elminster of Shadowdale"

That seems like a stretch - it also almost rhymes with "Elrond of Rivendell".

Shadows are cool almost magical places, I'd hate to see them too tied up by product identity.

fell (fĕl) pronunciation
n. Chiefly British.

1. An upland stretch of open country; a moor.
2. A barren or stony hill.

Its from Old Norse and part of a compound word in multiple places.

I'd say "Shadowfell, Bowfell (A real place), Ponyfell, etc..." are all reasonable constructions. Its a great word especially since it also means cruel and lethal :).

It was completely clear to me that it was an unrelated product especially since it is proudly OGL and in the OGL\3rd Ed. section of the web store.

The name is the one that came in from the writer. I liked it and only later realized that it was similer to the WOTC release. But Shadowfell is a cool sounding name so we went with it. It is certainly not tied into the 4E module, but a new way of representing the Wizards of literature as the item description lays out. I really like what Chris Field has done with this one, and Anthony did some great illistrations for it as well.

Oh man, this is a great class! Although it seems a bit powerful over all, I am really impressed with the Lessons of Arcana class feature. It's just brilliant!
