Slaad Lords... Archslaadi?

I thought I Rennbuu was described as being dangerously close to chaotic evil back in the old Dragon article (although I think his actual alignment WAS CN, but that's not really the point ;) ).

I'm unfamiliar with the Slaad Lords, but there are already slaad that are CE...the Death Slaad. Indeed, it's always seemed to me that the older and more powerful a slaad becomes, the closer he moves toward evil, until at last he moves into true CE when he becomes a Death Slaad. Are the epic-level White Slaad CE as well? That'd only further cement the idea....

The white slaad are "always chaotic neutral", however, the more powerful black slaad (CR 25 to the white slaad's CR 21) is listed as being "usually chaotic neutral (sometimes chaotic evil)."

Between what Lord Pendragon and Pants said, I totally take back what I said about conceding the arguement. ;) :p

Oh, and let's not forget the gormeel slaad from Dragon #306; a naturally-occurring lawful slaad!

Death Slaadi being CE is a 3e invention FWIW that breaks with the CN Death Slaadi in previous editions. I don't feel that it really makes sense.

And the 'Epic' White and Black Slaadi are CN as far as I recall. I left my ELH at one of my player's homes with most of my books though, so I can't check on it.

cool, thanks. as for Bazim-Gorag reference, thanks - i'll decide how to make use of him. ;)

hmm, right, Ygorl and Ssendam were in the Tome of Horrors also (under psuedonyms of course!) - who could forget the 15-foot tall black salad?

Black Salad w/ a side of insane golden croutons please

hey, since you guys are mentioning slaad types also, could someone make a full list of every slaad type in all the official 3E sources?

No, it's not.

Planescape Monstrous Compendium I: Page 90 said:
The greatest of their kind, these few powerful slaadi have achieved near-immortal longevity through evil ceremonies. Most of the half-dozen known death slaadi work to propagate their race, marshalling mobs of red and blue slaadi to invade small villages on the Lower Planes. They imprison the population as hosts and incubate a new generation of slaadi.
True, their alignment is listed as CN, but that strikes me as being more a bug and not a feature. Besides, it does show that there is some precedence for the evil Death Slaad.

EDIT: Expanded original quote.

Mud (Fiend Folio)
Red
Blue
Green
Grey
Death
White (ELH)
Black (ELH)

And the wierd LN ones that popped up in Dragon magazine at some point, don't recall the issue. According to that article, they're mutually violently antagonistic with normal Slaadi on sight, and sometimes work with the Githzerai.

Those were the Gormeel slaad, from Dragon #306. They drive home the idea that in a system of true, total chaos...even law can possibly happen (which I think is really cool).

Where do white slaadi and black slaadi appear? Is it an official source? Can you provide a brief description of the mud, black and white slaadi? Is there a special term for a slippery slide owned by a slaadi? Why aren’t there any CG slaadi?
