Slam attacks

Here is the question. Does an unarmed strike count as a slam attack? That is, if a creature with special damage with a slam attack has levels in monk, is that damage delivered with the unarmed strike? I know it can be used with touch spells, I was wondering if slam attacks were treated the same.

If you would like it to be, yes.

Just in case you're remotely thinkin' about it...

Would all of the unarmed strikes by a vampiric monk be considered slam attacks and inflict negative levels? Would the vampire monk use its slam damage rating or its monk unarmed damage rating?
Creatures with level-draining ability drain levels only once per action, so if they get multiple attacks, only the first hit in a series of hits inflicts a negative level. (Note that a hasted creature inflicts a negative level with a hit during its regular action and another negative level with a hit during its extra partial action.)
As pointed out before, creatures with monk levels can combine their natural weapons and their monk unarmed attacks in any way they see fit. For example, the monk could use either its slam damage rating or its monk unarmed damage rating, as it chooses. In either case, it can drain energy as noted earlier. If the vampire wishes to use its monk unarmed attack rate, it must use only its monk attack bonus, however.

I think the offical rule is in the monster manual under the "slam attack" description a the beginning of the book (for the damage). Or it could be written in the "vampire" entry. I concur with not kreynolds.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

Good thing I gave him a Monk's belt, huh? Its not ten levels a round possible, but I guess I can live with four :).

How would you be getting four level drains in a round? You realize that would take you 4 separate actions to do that, right?

No, no, no. Try to follow along here. I am kreynolds. I am not Sean K. Reynolds. Got it? ;)

P.S. I believe you were looking for the term "Not Sean". :)

LOL, you're half way right. I was about to write "not Sean K Reynolds" and changed my mind but forgot to erase the "not".

A vampire drain 2 levels per "attack". If you can drain once in the normal round and once more if hasted, that's 4 levels.

Oh...I thought he was saying "4 level drain attacks" instead of "4 levels drained". My bad.

Don't forget that the monster gains 5 temporary hit points for every negative level it inflicts. Gaining 20 thp per round could be a very significant combat advantage.

This is so mean... I think I'll have to steal the idea. ;)
