Slow Death in Columbus, OH (long)

About the same thing seems to be happening here in Lubbock. A lot of gamers are quitting. I'll probably resort to online gaming in a couple of months.

Reminds me of a Mr. Bungle song, "Everyone I Went To High School With Is Dead"...

Yeah, hard to get to the guardtower for the next while, though. Have to go all the way around the detour. Darn construction, a pothole there blew out my tire.

I haven't been out there for a few months, and after hearing that looks like I'm not going back soon. Ravenstone on the North end is good enough, they carry the new stuff and are usually nice.

Another welcome to Columbus!

When I wanted to start a new group, I posted a note in a gaming store (it's now out of business). It took a while to get the number of players I like (6-8), but I did get there. Yeah, I had to handle a few "not quite a good fit" type of players, but it all eventually worked out.

If you're looking to just play, I have a couple of possibilities. Email meif you're interested. But it sounds like you want to DM. Ravenstone Games is a good place to start: http://www.ravenstonegames.com/cgi-bin/index.pl

Well, as another Columbus gamer and DM, WELCOME! DanMcS is in my Sunday night game and he can tell you as much as anyone that you can meet people to game with a little looking. I am currently studying up and planning to start a Saturday night Midnight campaign in the next month or so, so keep your eyes peeled on the Gamers Seeking Gamers board.

I found it a bit hard to hook up with gamers after college too, but the real challenge is keeping the meeting time steady. Its been a challenge since my Sunday night game got started back in June, but we are progressing nicely.

Good luck to you!

Check out the Gamer's Guild of Ohio (GGO) Yahoo Group. It is quite active & there are quite a few gamers from the Columbus area.

As luck would have it GGO is having their annual picnic on 9/20 at Sharon Woods park in Columbus.

GGO can be found at:

Good luck! & Go Bucks!

Thank you so much everybody! I never expected to find so many gamers in Cowlumbus this quickly, I feel very welcome.

I've never heard of Ohio Gameday before, what is that?

We have had two of them so far. It's just a day we pick to get together at a centeral location (both were on campus) and we play games all day. They are one shots, and people seem to come from all around the state with even a few from out of state. It's a great way to meet some of the local and not so local people on EN World. I imagine we will be having one soon, but with OSU football on Saturdays and saturdays being the best day, it might be hard to get a weekend.
