Small Arms of the World: 1950 - 2000

Bah! In my overworked mind this appeared to make sense. Obviously it does not...

"There will be some extremely ground breaking releases that RPGs to date has or will be releasing."

We will be listing MANY (read this as HUNDREDS) weapons that NO RPG (core/supplement/source) book to date has listed. Small Arms of the World will be a ground breaking publication.

But arn't they pretty much the same? One 9mm handgun game-wise is going to have very little difference from another after a while.

For example isn't the Mauser Model 80SAV (a 9mm handgun) going to be almost identical to say the Colt 2000 (another 9mm handgun). One extra round in the magazine and a funny trigger action isn't going to make much difference (if any) in D20 rules.

Same with many rifles and sub-machine guns, other than the caliber (damage) and magazine size, what differences are there?

You will find not only reliability, range, and accuracy vary amongst firearms of a given caliber and manufacture.

Some of it is simply for flavor alone. Hell, I want to know exactly how my Spetznatz team will be equipped when they storm the Siberian Geological Survey site. Same goes for the Delta team that is storming the house of a former senator, now cult leader.

It is a level of detail that myself and my group like adding to the game.

Thanks again Richard for all your replies to this thread...

Skimming back through the thread, I haven't seen when the expected shipping date for it is, and what the format is. Hardcover would be great, especially if it's desinted to be a part of a series.

Thanks!
Chris

Cool...

I am really looking forward to this product, and hope that it hits the streets before the end of the year :)

If it has the FN F2000 in it, I will have some giddy players.

Well this definitely looks to be a very useful supplement especially with information on:

· Extensive information on weaponry carried by military, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies worldwide. If you want to know what gun an FBI agent is issued, or what the Russian army’s standard sniping rifle is, or what weapons an SAS commando team might be carrying, look no further!

· Detailed information explaining the differnt types of pistols, why a submachine gun uses pistol ammunition, what makes up an assault rifle, and a long list of other commonly asked questions.

Plus the variety of weapons if pretty staggering. Hell! I don't remember seeing/ hearing of the Grozna Ots and I have access to the full Jane's library at work.

I definitely look forward to perchasing this and UMF
