Small black outs on EnWorld

Between 11:50 a.m. EST to 12:25 p.m. EST, access to EnWorld, became shotty. Did anyone else have this problem. Or could it have been just my ISP service? Hmmmm...

Happened to me, too -- completely unable to access for a while, and now the site is crawling pretty slowly.

Could be increased voting activity for the ENnies? Are we getting enough normal traffic, plus traffic in the voting booth to actually see an impact on the site?

Traffic's certainly up. Average users online per day is at 36,000 right now, peaking at around 1600 at any one time. Looking at the referrals, though, there aren't vast numbers coming in from ENnies related links (certainly a few, but not nearly enough to account for the extra traffic).

Soon I hope to upgrade PHP and then install a program called turkmmcache. This program caches the binaries for the php scripts - speeding up script execution by 6 to 9 times. That's the source of the bottleneck at the moment, if anyone is wondering.
