small characters finessing *what* weapons?

BVB

First Post
I forget. It's been a while since I had to deal with a small-size character taking the finesse feat. Need your feedback.

Aside from the standard, obvious dagger (and exotic weapons listed elsewhere), what other "tiny" weapons make the finesse feat useful for a gnome or halfling?

I don't suppose you've seen a gnome rapier laying around anywhere?...

Small characters can finess with the same weapons as medium characters. you simply have to use a smaller version of the weapon.

halfling -> (small)Rapier

[edit]There are rules for changing damage dice for weapon sizes in sword and fist.

Hmm, small rapier would have the same stats as a kukri but wouldn't require the Exo weap prof... ;)

Not quite - it'd be piercing rather than slashing. (Not that there's a great deal of difference, but it is there.)

Such as a kukri will help you get out of being swallowed whole, where a halfling rapier wouldn't.

For adjusting weapon damage based on size increase/decrease, see page 162 of the DMG.

I've seen some info posted that these numbers may change a bit in 3.5, but nothing official.

Yeah, I'm sure that smaller versions of standard weapons can be created at any skillful smithy within the game setting. But as far as game mechanics go for finessing items straight off the list, you're pretty much out of luck, huh?

Given that they changed in Arms & Equipment Guide (and, IIRC, Savage Species) I would be very surprised if 3.5 didn't use those numbers.
