Small Publishers on RPGNow

We really don't want it spiral out of control, with half-truths, assumptions, etc. forming the basis for most of the discussion. When we're ready, we'll announce, and then we can talk about it.

I heard that the "New" Rpgnow is only selling 4E products from Mongoose.

There are over 300 vendors and their partners being affected by this change, and it is unknown how many are unhappy about it. It seems to me that this news going public was inevitable.

I heard it was 3.75 Editions of all the current stuff and Overseen by Monte Cook. His new races got added to the PHB and half elves and half orcs got removed.

Sorry but I just had to do that

I totally support the move That No Longer Is Described In This Thread. In fact, a long time ago I actually suggested it in another thread here, and many, many people crucified me for it. RPGNow shouldn't have a vendor for every 10,000 gamers on earth and small, quality work needs room to breathe.

In fact, I'd like it if there were no exceptions, so that the new site has potential leaders to rise *its* quality up. Otherwise, you imply that everything that gets moved, sucks.

Morrus, thank you for not deleting this thread. If it had not shown up I would not have known about this discussion at all (at least not for another week at least).

I am a small publisher at RPGNow. My partner is the contact, but we both have new babies and lives outside of e-publishing. As such, I have not received any information about this proposed "split". If it wa not for this thread I would have not known about the proposed "changes". Your news based attitude is why I keep coming back.

Btw, until this thread, I didn't even realize there was a publishers forum section on RPGNow/Host. Heck, even knowing it is there, I haven't been able to find it.

I think you need to email the site management (Gareth, actually, IIRC) to set you up to get in. It's not accessible to the public.

General feedback from a very small publisher: this has been debated a lot in the afore-mentioned forum. A lot of people have made a lot of points, including the ones raised in this thread. The site owner has decided a strategy to take. We're all waiting for the details to come out; then we'll be able to decide what steps are best for each of us. Discussion of it here isn't going to make a difference at this stage. If you're a publisher on RPGNow, make sure you have access to that forum for the latest news.

Not fully true. It will inform the Purchasing Public.

As a consumer, I don't remember a poll that said anything like:

Would you like to have RPGnow site divided into two sites based on someone else criteria of quality product.

Arnix, I feel your pain. For some reason, access is not automatically given to new publishers. I went some 6 months before realizing that such a forum existed. And when I asked for rights, they implied that it was my fault for not knowing.

The Publisher's forum on Rpgnow cannot be seen unless you have "rights" to it. Just email them and tell them you need access, and they will give it to you. It should show up in your browser once you have rights.

I beleive it is custserv@rpgnow.com you want. They will take care of you.

The details of the forum, and advice to use it, are present in the vendor instructions that come with the set-up of every new vendor. I'm honestly not sure what more you expect us to do.

Access cannot be automatic, because the vendor actually has to register for the forum (we have to comply with COPPA, etc.) and then permissions are set.
