I may be the one misremembering - I thought the pilot was a third guy, slimmer.
Having seen her take out worse doesn't do it for me - that just makes the problem worse! She's unrealistically tough - takes out people as well as, say, Batman could. A bit of combat training from your dad doesn't do that for you. Years of regular training doesn't make people as tough as she is.
I'll concede this; the main point given is that they're establishing Lois as one who doesn't stand on the sidelines. The part that gets me is that Lois has NO desire to be a reporter, and NO desire to get up and go and help others - she's ostensibly getting that from Chloe by osmosis, I take it. The Lois Lane we knew from the comics snuck into places, violated dozens of laws to get stories - heck, in one apocryphal tale she turned herself into a black woman to get a story!

In short, Chloe / Lois is a gestalt person, instead of Chloe just being the original person who gets Clark interested in Reporting and helping, and I'm curious where they're taking it.
