What???!!!!!

Don't get your hopes up. There wasn't an Ali Larter scene, just some innuendo that surprised me.

This show was a hair short of Touched by an Angle a few years ago, now it can get almost sexy at times. It has definitely changed.

This wasn't a bad episode, but as the last new Smallville episode until January, not so much. I hope it doesn't signal a return to the meteor-freak-of-the-week format. I'm digging the 6th season so far and hope to see Clark finally accept his destiny as Superman soon.

Mid-season filler, mostly, but this episode does move the meta-story along a bit:
-- Clark helps out someone who isn't one of his closest friends/family, realizes he can't save everyone by himself
-- Lex has re-opened Level 33.1 and continues to study meteor freaks
-- Clark and Jimmy Olsen becoming friends

Previews of things coming look very promising!!
Exactly! I can't wait.

The thing I appreciated most in this episode is that Clark seems to have shed some of the gloom that has been on him since his father died (and really since Jor-El restored him to life in "Mortal" last year).

I felt that the bad guy was pretty lame and not well explained, much as many of the freak-of-the-week types have been in the past couple of seasons.

Lana and Lex do not have believable chemistry, in my opinion.

Everything else was pretty par for the course, which means it was pretty good. The previews of things to come looked pretty delicious. :)

I thought it was pretty decent. Jimmy is starting to bother me less. I still wish Lana would go away.

I actually liked the fight between Clark and Burrowing Farmer Guy. Not every powered person should prove a challenge to Clark. This guy just wasn't as bad as he thought he was. I like to think that the trail moving through the ground after he pulled Clark in was the Farmer running away because he realized Clark was going to kick his butt.

But they could at least have given us a worm's-eye view of the fight or something, so we could at least see it instead of just hear it.

It was a good episode for showing some of Clark's growth and integrating Jimmy more into the show.

On the Lana front, I wish the writers would decide whether she is going to go the route of a power broker or an altruistic spendthrift. This bouncing back and forth between the two is just weakening an already weak character.

I thought this was the worst episode of Smallville ever aired. And I have seen every single one and own all the seasons on DVD.

The writing was atrocious. The dialogue was ridiculously preachy and over the top. Anyone against illegal immigration was essentially portrayed as a "racist". But our boy, Clark (who ironically is the most whitebread of all superheroes), could champion the cause of the downtrodden and oppressed "undocumented worker" because in his own words, he is "an illegal alien, too".

Yes, he actually said that, and yes, it was that bad. However, my nomination for worst dialogue ever comes from this exchange between Lex and Lana:

Lana: "Lex, I have realized that money is more than a luxury. Money is power."

Lex: "Yes, Lana, and now you can share in that power too."

Seriously, who writes this garbage?! This episode was soo bad on every level. The story sucked. The plot was ridiculous. The final fight was basically non-existent. And it was preachy and patronizing. If you missed this episode, don't feel bad. You didn't miss anything at all. I wish I could have those 60 minutes of my life back. And this from someone who usually loves Smallville.

They never have had good writers. It wasn't a good episode and it was not up to the standards of this and last years, but not close to the worst.
