Smudges - All Core books

My PHB has slightly wavy page edges, but otherwise my 4e books are just fine. Also, the waviness is already better today than it was yesterday.

Update (for what it's worth): The humidity has dropped, and the waviness is gone.

To summarize: our family's set of 4 PHB's and 2 each of MM's and DMG's all look just fine.

Same. I had zero problems with smudges, but did have the wavy page thing going on, but that has cleared up.

I had a binding issue with the first PHB that I bought, but the FLGS replaced it. The new copy is fine -- no smudging, no binding issues, etc. Seems like there may have been one bad run of the core books or something.

Gloss paper + cheaper inks = faster smudging.

Grrr. My PHB has just fallen prey to the mythical "smudge monster." Only in my case, it's a glaring thumb print.

Having seen this thread, I'd avoided holding the book in such a way that my hands were on text. However, I did leave my thumb on some of the colored bars across the tops of pages and sections. So now there's a big red thumb print in my book.

I went and flipped through my 3.0 PHB and DMG, which have seen constant use for the last ~7 years and with the exception of the pages that had obvious water damage (I blame Matt and his spit takes), none of them had smudges that I could detect. And no, I can't compare to my 3.5 books because I never bought them.
