You'd have to be within 30 ft., just like any other ranged sneak attack, right? (Unless of course you had a feat or ability to extend the range...does one exist?).

I believe there is a spell that extends the range. "Sniper's Eye", or somesuch.

AFAIK, Thanee the poster is male, though the picture in the avatar is female.
Last time there was a thread on the subject, the final results were inconclusive (ditto with Li Shenron). :D

If I understand correctly, sneak attack damage and criticals apply on any effect which deals damage and requires an attack roll (assuming of course that it meets other SA requirements) - is this correct?

That's the general rule. I'm sure there is one spell somewhere that uses an attack roll but does not qualify as a "weaponlike spell" but it would be an exception.

The Order of the Bow Initiate 10th level ability doubles the range for precision damage.

That same rogue 10/ sorcerer 1 with a ray of enfeeblement. 6d6+1 strength damage (can't go below 1).

I really don't think that works. Ray of Enfeeblement isn't damage, it isn't even ability damage, it's a Strength penalty.

Well, according to common sense/logic, it doesn't work out too well.

However, D&D is not based on common sense/logic.
According to RAW, ray of enfeeblement is a weapon-like spell, therefore it benefits from sneak attack and similar abilities.

Though, I will concede that there is an arguement for RoE not benefiting from sneak attack, as it's a penalty, not damage.

EDIT: upon scanning my CArc, I find that RoE is, in fact, not a weaponlike spell. My bad.
