SNL Loses 5 Cast Members

I liked Horatio, but I didn't always love him in sketches, if that makes sense.

I'm gonna miss Parnell. I really liked his smug-snarky character acting.

Glad Maya is staying, and that Kristin Wiiiiiiiiiig(sp) will have more playing time. After losing both Tina Fey and Rachel Dratch, I'd be worried about not having a strong female cast -- but that's an oft-recurring problem in SNL-land.

And yeah, Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler have great chemistry -- and both are almost always on their game, nailing the lines and hitting the timing right. Whenever they are ready, I see both of them as heading off to movie-land successfully. (They're great separately, too -- I didn't mean that their movies will have to have the two of them together.)

SNL lost me on this skit. I can laugh at a sick joke, but 5 minutes of "ha ha, aren't pedarasts funny?" is a little too much. I try to watch SNL once every year or so, and it makes me ill every time I do. It's sad...SNL was a significant part of my childhood. The Best of Eddie Murphy is some of the funniest sketch comedy I've seen.

He's the reason I like watching SNL. All the other comedy actors are way too serious in their craft.

Man, when Horatio Sanz is your reason for watching SNL, you know something's gone horribly awry. Of course, I don't even know who the hell the rest of those guys are...

I've not watched a new episode in five or six years, and I've not heard or seen anything about SNL during those years that made me feel like I was missing something good.

Yeah, it wasn't the same without Will Ferrell, or Mike Myer before that, or ... well, I hardly knew the class that had a gay comedy player, other than Michael Lorne trapped them in a basement and blew them up.

*offers a snack plate to The Grumpy Celt* Shweddy Balls?

Oh! Thank you! (starts crowing down on those Shweddy Balls.)

I've not watched much MadTV in years either. Both shows seem to go through painfully long cycles where they are not funny enough to make it worth while watching them. There are occasional gems, but those mostly involve guest stars and what they bring to the production rather than the quality of the shows themselves.

Jimmy Fallon used to be funny at times. Of course, then he moved on to do several unfunny movies.

I hope Horatio Sanz gets his own talk show. In the meantime, if I'm up late enough on Saturday nights it's because I'm out of the house. If I'm home, I'm not going to stay up that late just to be mostly disappointed.
