Heh.

I think the answer would be Piratecat.
Dinkeldog tactics are most in the style "let's put 50 drows in a closed room with the PCs and let's see how Wulf & co. kill all of them..."

Well, the joke here is that if I create a really bizarre monster, particularly with crossbreeding or character levels, that's being like Piratecat. If I'm tossing lots of nasties at them (like, say, Girallons, and lots of 'em), then theoretically I'm being dinkeldog. :)

The general fear wasn't that it was a Beholder. It was that it would be an advanced Half-Fiend Beholder with three levels of cleric, or the like. :D

Billy Crystal: "Kill anyone today, shorty?"
Jack Palance: "Day ain't over, yet."

Heh.

The poor guy has one lapse of judgement and his Rat Bastard DM rep is already tarnished.

How quickly they forget the psions, shadows, gorillons, beholders, and desmodu...

Throw us a bone here, Horacio, you sadist. A victory every now and then is ok by me!

I don't even think it was that much of a lapse in judgement, to be honest. That encounter could really have put the hurt on the PCs if the dice had gone the other way.

In my opinion, it really would have been a lapse in judgement if Dinkledog had fudged it.

O.K., let's say then "It would have been Dinkledog's style is the scout with +25 Hide and +32 Move Silently would had been detected by each 0th Level sentinel in the last three adventures"

Do you prefer it? :D

Has Dru killed six PCs, or only five?"

LOL!

"Well, do you feel Lucky, wizard? Do ya?"

Ironically, I killed a PC with a trap a half-hour later, but that's another story. :)

:( Yeah, well, when your Fort save is only a 9 and you roll a 6 on the die against a 9th level Wail of the Banshee... (I think I might have rolled a 2 for the disable trap roll, too)

And... you'd think a DM would know better than to kill his wife's character, but that's another story. :D
