There's quite a bit of work that's already been done on, effectively, warping light around objects to make them seem as if they're not there. So, I'd imagine that in the next 50 years there will be such a thing on a flexible garment.

I don't know what the effect of a few nuclear explosions in some major metropolitan areas might have on that kind of technological gadgetry though. People might decide to focus on something more relevant if the planet loses a few million people all at once to insanity.
