So, has anyone played Song of Ice & Fire RPG Game of Thrones Edition?

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Does the d6 system hold up over extended play. I played old WEG d6, but thought this system took the d6 in new directions. I liked the Bonus dice 'replacing' rather than adding cool.

More importantly, I liked the Ability List. We had been trying to put together a 'consolidated skill list' to use for Savage Worlds and DnD. Anyway, I have ported it into Savage Worlds.

I just converted our PCs and they seemed to come out very well.

If anyone plays both games I would really appreciate others casting their eyes over what I have come up with. To me it has been a 'revelation'...but I love messing with mechanics.

Right now I feel like repeating the tagline for 13th Age, where the creators stated they created the game they wanted to play. Right now, (whilst awaiting DnD 5E) I think I may have come across the perfect hybrid game too.

I am just wondering what else to merge. I have several ideas.

(If interested, my website i in my sig, then in side nav bar you will see link to SW-SIF Hybrid Rules. Fb appreciated).

I've run it a fair bit, and it's probably my favorite fantasy system. I've used it for both 'Westeros' games and in generic fantasy settings. It does a lot of things really well. It allows grizzled veterans to adventure side by side with young upstarts. The damage system is a nice merging of grim'n'gritty styles with more narrative games styles. And it includes rules for adventuring, mass combat. realm management, and social combat using essentially the same mechanics.

There's a new bestiary PDF (Woodland Creatures) that just came out that adds some nice mundane and fantastic creatures for those looking for variety or to adapt the game to a more traditional fantasy setting.

We have been playing SoIaF for about three months now. For me it is very similar to my old "Home brewed" game, dark and gritty with not a lot of magic. Being a history buff, this game has a real enough feel of 1100 Western Europe.

The game kind of scared me because I didn't see much support for a new group. Only a couple of adventures and a rule book fairly scattered and full of conflicting statements and poor editing. Still, I am in love with the books and enjoyed the series immensely. So, with serious doubts and much trepidation, I found a group thanks to our LFGS and we made it happen.

Three months later, we are just about set up to go to King's Landing for Roberts Tournament. We almost got through Wedding Knight before the players took a right turn and we have been rolling along with much enjoyment and anticipation of the players.
