So, has everyone pretty much given up on Smallville?

First Post
There are some shows that get posts for virtually every episode. Smallville used to rank amongst them. During most of that time, I didn't think the show was any great shakes, with its constant "this it the big one, get ready for everything to change" fake-outs that always turned out to be just another monster-of-the-week episode that ended by setting everything back to status quo.

WARNING! SPOILERS ABOUT THE JAN. 15TH EPISODE FOLLOW.

I started to tune in with all of the DCU guest appearances, like Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter--oh, and the really hot Kara-El. Last Thursday I was rewarded with the Legion of Super-Heroes making an appearance reminiscent of their first meeting with Superboy in the comics canon. In particular, I enjoyed all the questions the legionaires asked that have been plaguing viewers all these years. Stuff like "Where's the cape? The tights? How can Clark Kent not be wearing glasses? And who the heck is Chloe Sullivan?"

Seems like they're pulling out a lot of stops for the last season, with Doomsday and the possible foreshadowing of a L"egion of Doom" team to oppose Green Arrow's quasi-Justice League. So, anybody else watching?

I've been watching this season. Legion of Superheroes and Justice League were my comic books during my youth - so this season is making me happy.

I really feel the characters have grown to a point where if there is a next season, it should be "Metropolis" or "Superman".

This season has had some pretty good episodes. I firmly believe one reason is the lack of anything Lana up until recently; the writers just couldn't do anything good with the character. I found myself hitting the fast forward button the second she started talking (the writers seemed to be going for deep and mysterious but IMO ended up with bland boring and irritating).

I like the take on doomsday and braniac, it's not traditional but still seems to have the spirit of the villians.

I also like how they've (mostly) moved away from the kryptonite freak of the week and instead started to introduce other Superman mythology. Usually by rudely showing clark that there are some badass things out there that have nothing to do with kryptonite such as (minor spiler)
(the 1/15/08 episode has a nice reminder of why maybe blocking an unknown axe with your chest may not be the best idea).

I watched "Legion" and enjoyed the Legionnaires. Lightning Lad voiced many of the complaints that fans had about Clark not being able to fly or being in costume by now. I really hope they address why Chloe was erased from history before the series ends.

I've only watched the show off and on since it began, but I found this season has been better than the last, which was too close to teen melodrama for my taste. I like what they've done with a lot of the old Superman characters. Unfortunately my DVR didn't record the latest episode for some reason, so I'll have to see if I can find it online somewhere.

I would put forth that lots of the shows don't NEED a new post every week since they're just rehashing the same arguements, but that's neither here nor there. :)

I've never followed Smallville, but am curious what the "reason" given was for no cape, anyone care to post a spoiler?

Thanks.

No reason. I can't remember the exact lines, but it was something along the lines of
"Hey, Kal, where's your cape?"
"Cape?"
And that was it. Implication being it's in his future.

I don't have TV and I'm on Modem so I can't watch weekly. Each fall though I purchase the full season.

That said, I have wondered if the show has gone as far as it can without expanding outside of Smallville. As one person said already- its time for SuperMAN. Time will see.

There is far too much Superman mythos to explore to count it out still.

and I'm still waiting for a representative to show up from Wayne Interprises to deal with a Lex Corp incident then take a mere episode to use a few detective skills and say-

"So Mr. Clark, how long have you been invulnible, super strong and lightning fast?"
