So, how are the War of the Dragon Queen minis?

Huge dupes! Huge dupes!

Sadly, I bought two cases from my favorite online store, and I got duplicates of all the huge minis!

I ended up with two each of the following: Eldritch Giant, Spider, Purple Worm, Fire Elemental, Tundra Scout and Mountain Troll.

Today I bought another pack locally and ended up with another Spider!

Second, no outsiders as far I can tell (aasimar notwithstanding). Yes, I know Blood War is coming, but still...Undead and aberrations are also among the vitrually unrepresented.

Been cruising eBay to pick up some stirges, and I'll be damned if they aren't going for the price of a rare mini! The starting asking price seems to be five bucks. And we're talking about a tiny mini here...

Blood War is next and Unhallowed (undead we think) is after that.

As for the stirge, $5 is cheaper than several online sites I know that sell singles. It's crazy!

While I understand wanting a healthy group of stiriges, the figure is just not that great IMO. It is little, and not painted all that well (and I have 2 so far with equal paint jobs), and you really can not even tell what the figure is without a hard, close-up look.

I don't get it !?!?

If the price continues to climb, I will likely look into auctioning them off. Easy profit for an otherwise cr*ppy figure.

I've bought 4 boosters and gotten the following huges:
1) Aspect of Tiamat
2) Bluespawn Godslayer
3) Purple Worm
4) Huge Fire Elemental

Combined with the other minis I got, I consider myself fairly lucky and I think I'm going to stop buying boosters and get the rest of the minis I want off Ebay.

Perhaps strangely, this is the first set in a long time in which there aren't a lot of minis that I want large numbers of multiples for. There's a lot of really good singles I want though.

The huge rares are excellent. After two cases - 16 rares, of which I have 4 double - so missing 10 rares.

Set is really good. can't complain too much, though the Bluespawn Godslayer - while it is a cool sculpt and the pseudo two bladed sword is neat - still seems a waste of plastic and effort. There was surely something they could have done that was more usable than this.

The odd thing was I pulled a Mountain troll in the 12th booster I opened...but no card. At all.

Checklist says it is an Epic. I did not get an epic card nor a normal card for it either. Nada.

Anyone had this happen? And anyone know who I contact at WotC - and how - for the 2 cards?

I don't play the mini game - but I might someday - and in any event I keep all my cards in card cases so I would prefer to have them.

I just bought my first two cases yesterday, and the exact same thing happened to me! Two cases, and the huges were exact dupes of each other!

I got two eldritch giants,
two mamoth riders,
two purple worms,
two giant spiders,
two mountain trolls,
and two fire elementals!

Most of the rares were dupes too!
I got two griffin riders
two fang dragons
and two dragonborn fighters

In fact, the only rares I got that were not dupes were:
Cadaver Collector & Clawfoot Rider, Meepo, Magma Hurler, Goliath Cleric of Kavaki, and spellscale Sorcerer

Wait, I just counted. That's 14 rares in 12 boxes. There must be one smaller rare in every box and the huge rares are extra. Hmmm... It's nice that you get two extra rares.

But it really sucks that there is so much duplication. And the way they paired the huge rares is just plain wrong. That should have been more randomized.

All I really wanted was an aspect of Tiamat. I bought two cases figuring that would give me a 4 out of 6 chance of getting a Tiamat. While I knew I might not get Tiamat, I figured that I could live with one of the other dragons.

It really sucks though, that they paired the two giants. I didn't get any huge dragons at all. If they were going to pair up two huges, they should have paired each giant with another dragon, so that if you got two duplicate cases you didn't get 4 giants and no dragons at all.

AT first I was so mad I wanted to hit something. 240 bucks down the drain I thought. It felt like WotC had punched me in the gut. Or given me an expensive traffic ticket.

I was really, really mad all afternoon. But then when I calmed down and went through them again, I figured that at least I got a lot of the other rares and uncommons I wanted. Except no uncommon small black dragons, no large green dragon, come on! WotC is intent on denying me dragons...

After I calmed down and went through them again, I took some pleasure in many of the sculpts. I really like the fire elementals, those are pretty nifty. And I love the griffon riders. Purple worm is pretty sweet too.

I just opened a booster and got a Nightmare W/Blackguard and an Eldritch Giant. (Also got wererat rogue, Demonic Gnoll Archer, Tavern Brawler, Whitespawn Hordling, Azer Fighter, Diseased Dire Rat, so I guess the second rare replaces an Uncommon.)
I wonder if it was planned that way or not. The issues with DragonQueen seem to be related to the randomization, which I guess is a lot better than the Wardrums quality issues, but I'd still think WotC would have a firm grip on such matters by now.

I'm also waiting on a Large Green, I may have to buy a single, I'm too afraid of getting another Wizened Elder Watcher or Goliath cleric!
I do have a small black, but I hate black dragons. I do like Large Fire Elementals though...

They really should have done a 360 for the Cadaver Collector, the gallery doesn't show the back.

Also, a little lineup of Huge's. (Displacer Beast Pack Leader is my fifth along with a second Godslayer, I didn't unbag either.)

A pack is guaranteed one Huge and one regular rare. The Huge may be uncommon or rare, so 1 in 3 packs have two "rares".

Some of the figs in this set only have epic cards. If the flip side of an epic card has the D&D stat block, it is the only card in the set. If the flip side just has an illustration, there should be a regular card as well.
