Fighter, all the way. Those guys rule the battlefield, and Marking and the class feature that lets you make a basic attack against an enemy who shifts are a good way to model the Samurai's budo spirit.
Action Surge and Human Perseverance are good Heroic-tier feats. Also Weapon Focus, Power Attack, Quickdraw, Improved Initiative, Toughness, Mounted Combat, and Durable.
Multi into Warlord for Diplomacy skill, and for minor-action healing surge 1/day. Samurai were supposed to be tough.
