So, how would you get max jumping distance for a 6th level character?

Okay, right now I have Nezumi Barbarian 1 / Psychic Warrior 5.

Str 20 +5
Max out jump, +9
5 ranks in Tumble, +2
Ring of Jumping, +30
Nezumi, +10' speed
Speed of Thought at levels 1, 3, PsiWar 1, PsiWar 2, PsiWar 5
Mental Leap 2x jumping distance
Boots of Striding and Springing double speed.

So, we have 180' speed, double jumping distance, and +46 to jump checks. That's an average of 41 feet for a running long jump, multiplied by 6 for speed, multiplied by 2 for Mental Leap (I'm pretty sure that the speed and Mental Leap multipliers are not like standard dnd multipliers), for a grand total of 492 feet on an average leap.

Remember that jumping carries from one round into the next if you're jumping more than your normal speed. Thus, if you have a 180' move (ie 360' in a hustle) and jump 492', you'll take one full round and one move equivalent action in order to finish the jump.

Does that still apply if you have the feat Mental Leap?

You cannot jump father then you can move in a round. So, if you jump farther then you can move, you are still in the air when your next round of actions comes around.

Dude, that bites! So if you have a move of 40', even if you are running, you can't jump more than 40'? I thought the Mental Leap, 'Your jumping distance is not counted against total movement' (or something like that) would counter that.

Now if you can jump your movement (ie. if you are charging, move x2, if you are running, x4), it wouldn't be so bad. I could leave my Jump skill at +10 (take 10, or average roll, and you hit a 40' jump with Mental Leap) and forget about any more ranks.

You can jump farter then your move, you just start the second round in the air and you need to finish that movement.
