So, how's Dreamblade?

After I saw the movie on Gaming Report, I got pretty excited for this game. Don't know why, as I've seen it a lot before. Maybe its the fact that I'm yearning for something to replace Warhammer. I dunno. I kinda got a look at it at Wizard World in Philadelphia and I did want to try it out, but there were so many people crowded around that little table it was crazy. So what does everyone think? Anyone get a chance to play it yet?

Jeff, you need only email me for the full rundown. :)

I'm totally obsessed with this game, play it almost daily online, and am writing articles on it for TCGPlayer.com.

In a nutshell, it's the most exciting game to hit the market since Magic: The Gathering. :)

Is there an online version other than the flash demo? And if so, why wasn't there a link you game-hoarding bastard! ;)

lol. Yeah, we're playing on VASSAL.

Here's the engine: http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php

Here's the latest Dreamblade mod: http://dreamblade.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?ID=901

Here's a good article explaining how to play DB on VASSAL: http://dreamblade.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?id=770

Here's an awesome Dreamblade generator that emulates a sealed tournament format, 1 starter and 1 booster, including using the same "slot" theory WotC uses to package their miniatures. It also has stats for ever single spoiled figure in Set 1. It was made by Dire Kobold. :): http://mega.cephalo.us/dreamblade-generator.php

Thanks for the links. And that sealed tournament kit is cool.

Seems like a mutated halfbreed child of MTG and DDM. Just my opinion of course.

It definitely has aspects of Magic, but I don't see any relation to DDM, really (other than miniatures that have stats and abilities, but that's all miniatures games). I think comparisons to chess are also overblown, but it certainly has tactical placement of pieces and rewards similar strategic play.

The Premier stores for WotC have received demo copies of this game, so check out your FLGS and give the game a try.
