So I bought a new PS3...

... what should I do with it? And no, returning it for a 360 is not the answer I'm looking for.

Suggest to me some retail games (hah!), downloads, cool Blu-ray movies (already got Planet Earth and 300 in my Netflix queue)... whatever you think is good.

So far, the only game I have is Virtua Tennis 3, mainly because I'm a huge fan of VT on the Dreamcast. Also, it was cheap.

I got one about three weeks ago. I just hooked it up to my wireless network, and plan on using it to playback mp3's into my stereo system, in addition to games. I've only got Motorstorm right now for actual PS3 games... Madden 2008 is coming out next week, though.

I highly recommend getting the latest update (1.90) as the initial set up didn't handle PS2 games terribly well (initially it looked like a composite cable plugged into my plasma even though I was running it through the HDMI cable) - now it looks great. It's supposedly upscaling, but I can't say I really see the difference from my PS2 plugged in via component cables.

Rumor has it that Sony is working on ways to make the PS3 DVR capable, which would be cool. I'm thinking its got a lot of possibilities. And it won't crap out at nearly the rate the 360's have been, I think.

As far as other games, the ones I'm looking out for are Bioshock and Assassin's Creed (neither is out right now, though).

I've got my wireless set up, too. Pardon me if this is dumb question, but what are you going to use to stream music?

Played the demo a bit last night. I really enjoyed unintentionally driving the motorcycle off the cliff and watching the rider fall for an absurdly long time. I'm not sure if that means the games a "must-buy" or not.

Done. I think the game upscaling works through component cables. It's the DVD upscaling that's limited to HDMI.

Grrr... Bioshock. That and Mass Effect nearly put me off getting a PS3.

Supposedly there are a couple of ways to do this, but I'm probably going to just copy the files over to PS3.

It's a fun driving game - I'm getting a kick out of it.

That would suck... I'll have to look and see if that's the case. EDIT: looks like the upscaling also will work thru HDMI. Excellent!

Yeah, I'll be getting the PC version I guess. Eventually I'll be getting GTA IV.

I just got mine the other day too. Got an HDMI cable for it and updated to 1.9.

Downloaded teh Resistance demo and it is a lot of fun. Might get the full game but I'm super pumped about Lair and Heavenly Sword. And maybe Warhawk.

Luckily my room mate has a 360 so I can still play Mass Effect.

Heh... my roommate is my wife, which has certain advantages. Sadly, playing Mass Effect on her 360 isn't one of them.

Heavenly Sword sure does look amazing. I probably should hold out until it's released, but I find myself getting caught up in that new-toy enthusiasm.

Heh. Not much. Mine just sits there collecting dust until the games come out for it... sometime.

With that said, I dowloaded a bunch of demos, including Heavenly Sword, Gran Turismo HD, GRAW2, Resistance:FoM, Armored Core 4, F1, and Motorstorm.

Gran Turismo HD is pretty nifty, as it's a mini-game in and of itself. If you beat the time trials target times, you unlock cars and get noted in the online leaderboards. Kinda neat.

Tried out God of War 2 to see what the upconversion was like, and indeed the PS3 put it in 1080i. Cool. Now I just have to determine whether I want to plaw GoW2 in 1080i, or stick with the PS2 in 480p and rumble... I really like rumble...

Windows will do it. Just set up file sharing on your network and the PS3 will recognize it (works with pics and movies, too). I got mine to work with XP. Vista on the other hand has proven to be a tougher nut to crack.

Supposedly this can be done easily using WM 11. If you go to the www.playstation.com and look in the online manuals, it gives more details. I may try it tonight and see what happens.

I'm on the fence on the PS3 because of the lack of games, but if it has the capability to bring out better graphics on some of the recent PS2 games then I'm tempted. How was the visual difference when you tried GoW2 on the 1080i compared to the 480?
