D&D 5E So I get this email at work today... :D

... from a member of the social committee about clubs. They are thinking about making various clubs and are asking which one we are interested in, or if we have any suggestions.

So I replied that I could be interested in the book club or walking club, but that I was definitely interested in the gaming club.

I then added "But if we could have a vorpal club, that would be really sharp"

;)

Later today I will post what kind of reaction my proposal got, if any. The social committee member behind this initiative is pretty geeky so...

We got one of those sorts of emails at work, too. I thought about how it might be neat to run an hour-long D&D session during lunch once a week. I mean, I work in IT, there have to be other gamers. But then I thought about how awkward it would be if, say one of the directors’ characters got killed. I decided that, no, I have enough gaming in my life.

Many years ago, I was handed a fill-in-the-blank bio sheet when I started a new job. I was feeling social, so I actually listed "gamer" under hobbies/interests. I had several people asking me about FPS, Warcraft, etc. This was 2003-ish, so it hadn't really hit me that folks would interpret "gamer" as video games. I'm not that kind of gamer.

So... after that, I just kinda gave up on "coming out" at work.
