So is it fun?

Hawkeye

First Post
I jsut got my books yesterday, but was too tired ot read them effectively. I have read lots of arguments from both camps. Since in the end this is a game and games are all about having fun, shouldn't that be the ultimate question. For those that have played, is 4e fun?

I won't be able to play until next week (dammit), but I've DMed one session so far.

Yes, it's as easy and fun to run as the hype would have it.

Definitely. But it is a matter of preference. I absolutely love the new gameplay and the tactical options, others in our group are not yet convinced. We still had fun, though.

I played at the WWGD with a couple of friends and one rambunctious nine year-old. We had a blast. My friends are fairly "meh" on 4e, but they admitted to having fun despite themselves. Much of this could have revolved around said nine year-old's awesomeness and my fighter's proclivity to set rooms in which he was standing on fire, but yes, it was fun.

Thaumaturge.

DM'd two sessions last week for the D&D day and found both of them to be quite fun. Players seem to have fun - though the patriarchs of 1st Edition play (we are all old) had many gripes and once again we wandered down forgotten game sheds...but overall it was quick to pick up and play.

Going to need some time with the system before I can comment on it any better than that - I do have some niggles but want to run a few campaign games before i settle them

Of course it was fun. When I game with my friends I have fun. Sometimes the game is good and we enjoy it and that's what makes it fun. Other times the games we play suck, and we make fun of them and that is fun. When we game, we have fun. We never let a game ruin the fun for us. :D
