So many games, so little time

One thing you can try to do is pretend that all the games you have are a "collection."

Yeah, see that's just where it starts. A few years back I started picking up a few games because I wanted to try out a campaign or two. Of course, getting my group to try new games often felt like pulling teeth. So my "collection" began...

Of course now i've resigned myself to never playing many (if not all) of the the new games I pick up and so my collection grows. It doesn't help that a few members of my group are resistant to changing the rules they play by. Every once in a while I can convince them to try something new (just started to broaden our horizons into Midnight and M&M) but at this point its safe to say that anything non-d20 will likely remain safely entombed within my sagging bookshelf.

I consider my RPG stuff a "collection." I have no interest in playing MegaTraveller, but I like having that stuff to pull down and read from time to time. Same thing for my Werewolf books.

The various Tolkien RPGs I have just to have, especially since I quite dislike MERP. The new game by Decipher is actually quite good, but I'll still probably never play it.

I have real empathy with you, the way I look at it is I enjoy reading game books like I enjoy novels, if I get to actually play a game that's just a bonus.

I admit that there are more than a few games I purchase simply because they "round out" my collection, or are important enough from a design and historical POV that they deserve my ownership. E.g., I own a few GURPS books even though the odds I will ever play the game is close to nil. It was more of a "know thy enemy" kind of thing. ;)

Still, there are some games that are just *so* good that I can't help but want to play them, regardless of whether my groups are interested or not.

Oh, and Joshua, that Spidey animation in your .sig is... well... disturbing. That or I just have a bizarre sense of humor. :D
