So now, you have to be bitten by a vampire to be a vampire?

When converting a 3.0e module for playing with 3.5e rule, I found one change critical to the said module. "Vampire" is deleted from Greater Create Undead table.

So now, you can't be or create a vampire via spells or magic? Must be bitten by some other vampire?

Are there some other way to be "the first vampire" who does not have his "father vampire"?

Better if there is some dedicated spell or something to be or create a vampire.

Thanks in advance.

Well, the epic seed allows you to do it:

Do you really need a rule? There's no rule to 'create' orcs, either. :p

Maybe not.

But in the said module the BBEG became a vampire and creating various undead including vampires via a magic item which allow him to use Create Undead and Create Greater Undead effects every day. And that was used as a description why "cleared" rooms are re-filled.

As that item is kind an artifact, it may not really matter. I can just say that item has a special power to do so.

But I and my players tend to want some descriptions based on the usual rules whenever possible.

There is an item in Ghostwalk (the 3.0 book) called Blood of Orcus that turns the eater into a vampire, wether they want to or not, though there are some save involved. I don't remember the details, but I'll see if I can't get hold of the book again and check it out.

Thanks. But as the module involves an artifact (which cannot be used by PCs), now I realized that I can simply say "this artifact done it". There are many "out-of-usual-rule" things already in the module.
