So Torn! WoW of CoV?

Well you just continue questing, moving on to higher level quests. For the hunter, the fun starts when you have a pet.

Just switched to one of the Oceania servers as a dwarf hunter. At least the Ironforge lag is tolerable now. ;)

Both games are definitely good and each has its seperate appeal. The trick is in getting a sense of what you want out of your MMO.

(Disclaimer - played a lot of CoH/CoV, no WoW, lots of EQ/EQ2)

While both games are somewhat casual-friendly, I'd have to agree that CoV is more friendly for infrequent or less devoted play. I know people who have tried both and come back to CoV because of the commitments they felt were needed in WoW.

WoW undeniably has more depth. CoX has no end-game at all, and the only thing you can do is roll up a new toon.

Of course, you also have the genre aspect. If you really enjoy the notion of the cape and flying, then CoX will have some unique appeal for you. Similarly, if WoW's universe enthralls you...

Both games do give out free trials from time to time. CoV gives you the first month free once you buy the game as well.

I'd say that the biggest decision point to consider is how much you plan to play and your general available cash. If you only play a few hours a week, CoV could keep you busy for a long long time. If you want more, WoW might be the way to go. On the other hand, it's not a choice for life. You can buy one, play it for a while, then get the other later.

I played EQ2 and I really really enjoyed it. A lot of people like to bash it, but sometimes I think people just like on hate on EQ. However, once WoW was released, sony started to change it to be more like WoW. Then they sort of ruined it. I quit after level 45.

I then played WoW for a bit. It is extremely well done, but on a personal note, I didn’t like the cartonish graphics. Not that it’s a flaw. But since I had already played EQ2 so long, I couldn’t get into WoW as it felt like more of the same. But it I’ll say again, it was very well done.

I also played CoH for a long time. Gameplay and combat wise, I think it is a lot more fun than WoW and EQ2. It’s more action oriented and moving around with your guy makes sense during combat. It also feels very 3D, more so than the fantasy ones, because you are often jump, flying, etc over buildings and other terrain. But it’s content isn’t near the level of EQ2 or WoW. It’s more about leveling up to get to the next zone to play/fight in the new environment. Still, I realy enjoy playing it until and only quit to try out EQ2 (I have a thing about not playing more than one mmorpg at a time).

Now I’m giving CoV a try. It’s been very fun and the content is better, but not by leaps or bounds over CoH (and still below WoW and EQ2).

If you want better content, WoW. If you want better combat, CoV. That is my 2 cents.

Oh, and if anyone is playing CoV, what server are you on? Let’s join up and commit some evil. I’m on Server Victory, Character PitchBlack.

Well, I finally got the game (WoW) and installed it. i created a Troll Hunter and spent a few hours doing the early quests. it is pretty fun, and the graphics are awesome. I am just not sure what to do next. I don't necessarily want to grind solo forever -- that's how I lost interest in CoH, and I wouldn't mind actually doing a little of the MM part of the MMORPG.

Any suggestions on where to go to find people for raids, RPing, or even PvP? Does EN World have an 'unoffical' guild? Does anyone want to take a newb under their wing?

We do have an EN started guild on Feathermoon, two of them actually. For more information, go to the hosted forums section of ENWorld, and read the Enduring Nobility general forum threads.

Of late you can find many of us more horde side than our original alliance home. The guild name there is Eldritch Night. Most of the Eldritch folks can add members, so we haven't been keeping a name list of who to talk to to join.

Note: While we started as an ENWorld guild, we have, on occasion, not been able to accomodate an ENWorlder as a member. Please be sure you are comfortable with the guild rules before talking to someone about membership. (Yes, that last line seems like it should go without saying, but we've had some hard knocks in the past.)

Go with WoW. 2000 Quests, 60 levels, tons of new content being added alot. It is also easier to advance in than CoV also, you have to join a super group to get a base in CoV. I would go with WoW even though you can play both CoH and CoV together for 15 a month. My choice would be WoW.

The Universe and I have been playing WoW since April and absolutely love the game. We play on Earthen Ring... a few EN Worlder members there I know. :)

Also - I noted this weekend that WoW was down to $30 at the local Best Buy.

I picked up WoW last year in november and played for less than a month. I got to 21st level, but I had almost no socialization and the grind and lack of money turned me away. I froze my account and uninstalled the game.

This month, a year later, I bring my account back online and play again on a new server (Lightninghoof is PVPRP! They didn't have any PVPRP servers last year!) with a new character. I'm playing smarter, not turning off the chat channels even when they turn into innane blather, I joined a guild that seems pretty great so far, I'm grouping a whole lot more, and I'm having more fun then I ever did before. I have a few alts and I'm doing well. I'll probably play for a few months, maybe longer.

It's nice to have 3 gold by the time you're 15th level. WoW made the right choice when they, unlike DAoC, decided that 'grey mobs' should still leave drops. Makes getting money possible. It was a lot harder last time I played. I'm glad I picked it back up. Now my only problem is that I keep dreaming in WoW.

EDIT: Now that I'm playing again, I can only say that my biggest complaint is a lack of RP on the RP servers I've tried. Feathermoon was bad, but Lightninghoof is pretty terrible, for most part. I hope it improves. I was just surprised by that. Even DAoC was better for RP.
