so what are they changing about Fighters in 3+

"...... However, the revision team made a considerable effort to tweak *all* the classes so that they remain interesting from levels 1 through 20. So, if you're the kind of player who decides it's time to multiclass when your fighter hits 11th level, you may find yourself thinking twice after July"

....sure sounds like the Fighter and the other classes are ALL going to look a little different starting this summer.

Good question. I always thought the sheer number of cool feats out there was what made Fighters eternally viable at all levels, but I guess the designers felt they need something more at the upper levels to keep them "interesting."

As to what it is, I have no clue.

They probably put in cool feats high attack requirements. With nothing in the PHB requiring more than+9 base attack, there's noticeable lack of feats aimed toward high level fighters. Going back and picking up low level cool feats can work, but it hurts the class. The fighter gets a 3rd level power at level 18, while the spellcaster gets a level 18 power at level 18.

I wonder if this will be a change to the class or simply the inclusion of high-level feats (like Power Critical and Dragon's Toughness) from other sources. Unlike some of the classes we know they're changing, it's tough to point to where Fighters break down, aside from getting a little boring after level 12.

I am personally hoping they introduce feats for the Weapon Master chain from the Combat and Tatics blackbook of 2.5E. That was something that our grouped really missed when we converted. Luckily our DM made up his version of them so we can get them.

My own guess would be that at levels 11+ fighters will get special abilities from a list like a rogue does, in exchange for some bonus feat slots. This makes the most sense to me, at least.

How about 1 or 2 more feats with Fighter levels as prereqs? Maybe one that requires 8 fighter levels, one that requires 12. After 12th level feel free to multi or prestige class yourself, or if you want more feats, stay a fighter.

my hope is that they do something to make ti so the fihgter doens't suck so much out of a fight. the fighter aint close to good enough(to many other classes come to close or exceed the fighter in to many situations) in a fight to justify it's absolute suckage out of one.

So here's a question for you all...
I am playing a fighter in my game, and he will approach 12th level before too much longer.
This is my first 3E game, so I'm still not caught up with all the rules. I've noticed my poor fighter woefully lacking in the butt-kicking dept, and would like to change that. What should I do with him? Multiclass, or is there a good fighter PrC that I can convert to?
