Maybe this has been covered, but why was Aboleth left off the list? It's core, gets used a fair bit in adventures, has as much of Lords of Madness dedicated to it as mindflayers and beholders, and, I dunno, is totally awesome.

It can't be that it's aquatic, because the Dire Shark is on the list, and that doesn't even have a land speed like the aboleth.

Yeah...after I posted I scrolled back and realized this was an old thread, one that I had already commented on the lack of an aboleth.

Ah well, it's certainly worth repeating. Aboleth, hydra, and to a lesser extent remorhaz are the huges I want. Nalfeshnee would be nice, but it's so dang ugly I'm not sure I want to see it on the table.

Psionic dragons are pretty far out there as a concept, and second, they haven't been converted to 3.5 in that great of a fashion. Plus, they suffer from 'more dragon' syndrome -- with the TEN core dragons, the things-that-aren't-quite-dragons like wyverns, and the Forgotten Realms Dragons(shadow, deep, fang), we're pretty dragoned out, and it's not like a Green Dragon can't be a perfectly servicable Emerald Dragon proxy.

An aboleth, hydra, or remorhaz? Those are a bit harder to proxy.

I want the Mystaran gem dragons.

Ruby with heatbreath that melts your gear.
Saphire with a bolt breath that cause you and not your gear to turn gaseous.
Crystal who's Icy breath makes alll your gear have hardness 1.
Emerald with a breath that inflicts a rotting disease.
Onyx that causes Darkness.

Frank,

Didn't know Mystaran dragons were that different...

Kun,

Yeah but still, if I want a Topaz or a Crystal Dragon, do I have to settle for a Large Ice Elemental then?

I think huge packs will always have a dragon or two, there's just too much of a gap between huge packs not to do it. Witness the aspects in War of the Dragon Queen...

Me, I wanna see the huge green dragon and either the huge bronze or brass. :)

I'm really jonesing for the nalfeshnee demon. This would make the collection of the "classic six" demons complete: Vrock, Hezrou, Glabrezu, Nalfeshnee, Marilith, and Balor.

You'll see a Gem Dragon in the normal DDM line at some point, I think. What you won't see is a Gem Dragon in the Huge sets. Given how few huges exist in proportion to the nonhuges, space is too valuable for a niche figure that's not part of a major WotC theme.
