D&D (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

Based on prior years, I think they will begin talking about it after Dragon Delves drops. They usually talk about books about 3 or 4 months in advance.

Dollars to donuts it is a Ravenloft supplement, similar to how Fprge of the Srtificer supplements Rising from the Last War.
I agree. It's a Ravenloft thing.

The Venger thing mentioned in the OP has come and gone in the form of in-store play.

Without Kenreck, it's possible that their promotional stuff will be a little later than usual, but I agree with @Parmandur that we will probably hear about it after the mext book drops.

I still think Venger is going to be the BBEG in the Starter Set...but we'll find out soon, I guess??

It would make sense out of how prominent he is in the DMG.

I suppose that's possible. The in-store stuff could be outtakes and/or prequels written during development. Still I wouldn't be surprised at all if all it was was a short-lived thing around that small series of in-store adventures.

Thing is, there us already a vague abd undefined "Cult of Chaos" originally behind the Caves of Chaos...and Venger and the League of Malevolence would fit in. And we were told those characters were part of a longer product plan.

It wasn't the marketing, it was Perkins talking about his design plans...he is gone, but that isn't likely to be something that changes in the next couple of years of product

Venger is rising.

Perkins was the one who called Dragon Heist a Heist, that Rime of the Frost Maiden was like "The Thing" , and Spelljammer was good.

Here is a source.

But yeah I also hope to see more Venger.

People get weird about the Dragon Heist thing: it isn't as Heist-y as the Golden Vault advebtures, but it does have a bunch of urban skulduggery. Good enough for government work.

Icewind Dale does have a ton of weird survival horror aspects.

Spelljammer was good, but could have been better with more.

Spelljammer is liked by everyone I know who isn’t on Enworld or similar places habitually arguing about D&D.
A good 64 more pages, like Planescape got, would have really sealed the deal. A gazateer if various Astral Spheres similar to Van Richten's Guide detailing various Domains of Dread would have been lit.

But not having quite all the content I wanted didn't take away from what was there.
