Not likely, considering the street dates listed and the turnaround time for printing, especially with the "deluxe" features, which I'd guess would add to printing time (or more accurately "production" time?)

That's why I'll be waiting a few years before getting the deluxe books.

Not I. Leather bound is nice and all, but I'm not paying three times as much for it. I'm getting the slipcase version -- and doing it for less than the street price of one of the deluxe books.

IMO, the deluxe is a bit nuts. But, if you've got the disposable income, who am I to judge. If I had more cash, I'd be buying swords and a leather-bound PHB probably has a bit more utility in the modern age.

Deluxe editions are wasteful garbage, in my opinion. If I have extra money to spend I'll buy something useful.

If they have actual additional content, I'll just be pissed they didn't put them in the original books.

Not me.

I have the disposable income for it, I guess, but why? I'm not going to wait until the Fall to get my 4E rules and I don't need two sets of rulebooks. If they were released at the same time I'd at least look at it, but given the current situation it doesn't make any sense.

I am very very seriously considering picking up the Deluxe Edition instead of the regular books.

Considering that October is the earliest we'll see third party stuff...

...and that the beta with all the game's rules is available at launch for free online....

...I think it might work out just fine!

If I was certain that 4E was going to be 100% perfect and nothing in it was ever going to change, I might spring for the deluxe editions.

But since there's certainly going to be errata (if not a whole new 4.5E coming down the pipe) I think I'll wait until the 4E rules have been playtested for a few years, rather than spring for leather clad editions that could become outdated a few months after I buy them.
