So who is planning a "halloweeny" session?

Stone Angel

First Post
So anyone planning anything special for Fears eve for there gaming sessions, this year. I know a lot of people do.

Any highlights from previous years past?

Last Halloween(I think) I had the PC's hunt down a hag, the one eyed hag to be exact. The Hag was consuming the flesh of beutiful women and young children in order to become beautiful. At one point while camping in the woods surrounding the Hags lair. I had went to a daycare that a friend had volunteered at and had the kids sing a few nursery rhymes. The best was Pocketfull of Poseys.

So a little media altering and as soon as the PC's nestled next to the campfire. I took a small break lowered the lights lit a few candles sat back down. Let that badboy play addressed the players by their characters names "Caber...Do you hear that?" Slowly letting the chant rise.

Yeah I freaked em out something good.

I might run D20 Modern's Trouble at Black Rock as a one-shot. Although, I have taken the time to develop it into the opening session of a campaign as well.

Well, apparently Sword Sorcery will be putting out Masque of the Red Death rather sooner than later (Its drivin' me barmy trying to keep up with release dates), so I'll be running it the weekend of Oct 23rd-24th, as my friends have plans to do things with their significant others. I'm kinda bummed out, I mean how long does a man need to live a life of loneliness to earn the award of having someone to hold and love. I'm 28 and very social. My younger sister (23) will be marrying soon, so that further saddens me (although I am happy for her).

I plan on running a game using the new World of Darkness around Halloween.

The party will be made up of a group of high school kids on a field trip to a military base. Once they get there, the base mysteriously goes into "lockdown" mode. As they try to figure a way out, they discover a zombie infestation that has turned most of the soldiers into flesh eating undead.

Their goal will be to escape from the base and not get turned into a zombie. :)

Yeah, I know, not very original...but dammit, it sounds fun. I mean, come on...assault rifle toting zombies? What's not to love?

It used to be tradition for us to run Call of Cthulhu on Haloween.

But since then, I've discovered that the horror potential is greater if the players don't know it's coming... so I prefer to drop horror interludes in other games.

OF course, this is the beauty of CoC d20.

well, we have been known to play on sunday from time to time, so who knows. ;)

this tuesday our epic-level DM wore a set of devil horns while we fought lolth. i'm still having nightmares about fighting lolth.

I'm planning an evening Halloween Call of Cthulhu game for our group, too. It's a tradition that started about 5 years ago, and we're continuing it. That, and a couple of our players have never played original Call of Cthulhu, so we'll give it a shot. :)

I'm not planning a holloween special for D&D but our shadowrun GM is planning a holloween special for his game which the new season of starts tommorow (our old shadowrun GM liked to use TV terms for his game so they've stuck even now that he's retired from GMing).

Like Henry, I am also planning a Call of Cthulhu game near Halloween. The majority of our group have never played the original game, so we decided to give it a try. Our group plays DnD every week and most haven't tried other games, so it will be interesting to see how they react to the atmosphere of a CoC game. I am using the intro scenario called the Haunting, although I have expanded on it. The scenario is an old stand-by that I have run four or five times over the years.

Additionally, each October, I get together with my college group and go away for an Autumn weekend. Cthulhu is the primary form of entertainment on those trips as well.

Masque

Back when I had my RPGA club I'd run something every halloween, and it evolved with the times:

Year 1: AD&D scary adventure
Year 2: Masque of the Red Death (AD&D rules)
Year 3: Masque of the Red Death (Player's Option rules)
Year 4: Masque of the Red Death (Alternity rules)
Year 5: Dark Matter (Alternity)
Year 6: Dark Matter (Alternity)

For some reason last year we didn't do anything. This year's not looking too hot either. Just started a new campaign and everyone's so into their characters if I hijacked them out ther'd be mutiny.
