So, who's getting a Xbox 360 on launch day?

11/21 - Are ya, are ya?!?!

I'm not. I took one look at the launch titles and then the bundles most places are selling and while I'm usually okay with it if 2/3 of the titles are good - I was immediately turned off. Something like $600 for a bunch of games I'll never play and one good one (Elder Scrolls IV) that may or may not actually be out in time for launch. Bleh.

Some places have bundles starting at $1000. Yow.

I will eventually get a 360, but not until I see a game I have to play on it.

I may delay as well. The one game was going to played on the 360, was Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

Which is now delay to next year. As for the other games, I haven't looked carefully to see what is decent and what is terrible.

Which of course, I will hear here, on my news hunting.

My beef is alot of the stores offering bundles. Why can't they just offer the product and let you pick out the games/ accessories you want to buy instead of making you buy all the stuff you won't use?

That was pretty much the gist of my post, in a roundabout way.

If I could just buy the system and pick out a game I would have probably pre-ordered one (the HD version). It's really a brilliant strategy. The system is already sold out which means that each sale automatically sold at least 3 games with it (that was just at EB - other places started at 4 plus accessories). It's like going to McDonalds and having to buy the value meal, when really all you wanted was a burger. And to top it off you really don't get any discount. All the stuff is basically sold at retail price. :(

I hate it. I would be more okay with it if there were 3 games I actually wanted but this is not the case. I haven't found a single store that I could just buy the system from. All of them had at least 3 games plus an accessory (usually a controller).

I'm not (though I think I'll almost certainly get one eventually). There aren't any must-have games for me in the launch window, and I strongly suspect there will be a major price cut around the PS3 launch, or by next Christmas at any rate. Also, I think I should get an HDTV first. I'm certainly dropping down to one or two consoles in this generation (if Square/Enix announced that all future main sequence FF games, not just FFXI, were getting an Xbox 360 port, then it'd be one for sure).

I have been out of console gaming for some time, but may end up with an X-Box 360 at some point. Most likely not on opening day though.

Yeah, I haven't had a console since my Genesis, but I'm seriously considering this one. Not until 2006, though... I'll probably wait until both the XBox360 and PS3 are out, and make my decision based upon game reviews. Of course, XBox360 should have the edge, since more good games should be out for it by then.

I'm also waiting for a) the price of DLP HDTVs to fall more, and b) a HiDef DVD standard to win the war between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. I figure I'll buy all 3 in 2006, why have 3 separate fights with the wife when you can get it all over with at once? :p

It's interesting that you mention cutting down on systems.

I was initially not going to buy a Xbox. But then KotOR came out and I'm a whore for graphics so they got me. I said the same pre-launch about the Cube but then Capcom announced that Resident Evil was only on the it. Grr. This time around I've considered not getting a Revolution but I'm sure they'll be a few games (Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, etc) that I just have to get. The trick is just to wait until things are cheap, for me. I know that I'm buying a PS3 for certain and the 360 is a given. I'm going to try and hold off as long as I can so I don't have to shell out $400 for a console. All it will take is one of my favorite franchise to show up on the console I don't have and I'm done.
