Eh, I'd probably go with Prestidigitation and Mage Hand, too, simply because they're useful, and multipurpose.

On the other hand... Even a single +1 bonus to an attempted activity during the day might prove valuable. It's the equivalent of shifting your luck by 5 percent, or adding a teensy bit of extra flair when you're completing a project, or feeling a nudge when you're trying to decide whether to turn left or right in the parking lot when you're looking for a space to park.
Not really. If you have to decide whether to deploy the bonus in advance, it suddenly becomes a lot less useful, since the odds are even lower that you'd actually *USE* that +1. After all, if you use it, and it turns out you didn't need it, it is, effectively, wasted, and unavailable for something else that you might actually need. Of course, since you never know whether you need it until after the fact, it's going to sit on the shelf gathering dust: As the probability that it will be wasted instead of useful is higher for practically any given circumstance, you're going to go with the obviously better odds, that the bonus will be wasted, rather than useful, and not deploy it. Therefore, you'll never deploy it, and, therefore, it is useless.

And the lottery? In D&D terms, winning the lottery would require a DC: 1000000+ Profession(Gambler) check. A +1 is going to do jack, since it's still NOT going to happen. Why? Because the lottery is FAKE. It's a ploy designed to seperate you from your money. Have you ever bought a lottery ticket? Did you get anything out of it? I don't think so. Guess what? You've just been seperated from your money, getting NOTHING, like a complete and utter chump. Lottery: A tax on people who are bad at math.

I second Prestidigitation and Detect Magic. Presto can do anything another Cantrip can do better, except Read or Detect Magic, and if you ain't a mage, Read Magic is less useful than Detect Magic. So there ya go.

If my pc had darkvision it would be No Light from the BovD.
Going into combat while others w/o Darkvision can't see you isn't that bad....

Anybody else who doesn't see a reply box?
