So your PC is blinded?

Monte Cook recommended in a column once having the player of an invisible character sit under the table. That way, people are more likely to remember they can't see him.

Doing the same thing for a blind character might work, since that way the player can't see the battlemat...

Oh! That is so very, very good. Consider this stolen for all future instances of Blindness/Invisibility IMC.

My rogue was blinded for a session or two in a dungeon. There isn't much a blind rogue can do, so I generally stayed out of combat. I put my back to a wall and fought defensively or used total defense. About all I could do besides that was role-playing. I got one of the other party members to lead me around by the hand. When others were investigating a room, I felt around for a chair and sat down. Made smart remarks when someone said "Look at that!" Stuff like that.

One time I did fight was when one of the other PCs was panicked by some monster's fear ability. He thoughtlessly ran to cower behind the blind rogue. I heard someone run up next to me from the melee, so naturally I hit him.

"Ow!"

"Oops, sorry, Taratar."

:D

Thanks all. I could not get back on yesterday to respond...

I only had one scroll of dispell magic; and it was the only access to dispel that we had and I considered using it and then realized we were in a big city, we had contacts at a temple and it would likely cost less to have the spell removed than to get another scroll. (Not to mention the odds that I could have been blinded again during the battle...my PC has a pretty low fortitude).

I like to chalk up that round of not doing anything to my debating whether or not to use the scroll. :)

I like how you handled being blind. I could see a character taking a few seconds or more to get his bearings after going to blind. That would really throw someone off.

Nice thinking using the Clairvoyance. I'm surprised you had the spell on your list. I don't usually take that spell as a Sorcerer. The spell is came in handy for other than its intended usage.

Um, was the scroll in Braille? Because otherwise I fail to see how a blind character can read a scroll :)

I'm the DM in that game. She had just leveled up her character a few sessions before, and chose that spell. I thought it was an unusual choice for a sorcerer, but could come in handy. I forgot all about it until she used it.

The enemy hit all four of them with Blindness spells (he was a distance away while they were engaged with others). It failed on everyone but her.

As for the scroll, she had called the other sorcerer (who had made his save) to her side, intending to fish out the scroll and hand it to him. (I would have made that take some time, as how would she have found that exact scroll on her person? More likely she would have handed him all her scrolls and he would have had to find the dispel magic one.

I gotta admit, I was surprised. I thought at that point she was out of the fight. It was a great session.

Translation : There are a lot of NPCs with contracts on our lives (and we're a GOOD party) and I figured it would be quite useful to have some good means of eavesdropping...

;)

i would rule that any spell or effect that gives you "far-seeing" would work even if you were blinded.
