I’m looking for some help constructing a solo-adventure for a Half-Drow Rogue2/Battlesorcerer3.
When he left the Underdark through stealth and guile he stole a katana/bastardsword, which I’ve described for him as masterwork sword - dark black, and blood red along the cutting edge. (The sword is in fact a +1 spellstoring Abyssal Blood Iron Katana +2, (Abyssal Blood Iron is mined from thin deposits of ancient blood, spent magic, and weapons compacted beneath the Plain of Infinite Portals over eons of Blood War in the first layer of the Abyss). The Drow Battles Demons and that is how they got the sword in the first place.
The powers of the sword are dormant and will only awake if it tastes Demon blood (Im thinking a tiefling). This should be the center of the adventure.
Heres is some info:
Start place for the solo: Forgotten Realms – Tangled Trees (within Cormanthor wood). The tree other players are elves, and they are going to spend 1 year downtime here. The Warrior (to whom Tangled Trees is his hometown) wants to smith a pair of elvencraft shortswords. His father is the only wizard who did not join the retreat. They have only just arrived.
Here’s what I’ve thought so far: The eclectic elves of Tangled Trees are suspicious to a half-drow and will only accept / tolerate his presence because the native PC knows him.
- He will be given a young elf warrior chosen by the First Speaker (Makk Fireseed Clr7 Rilifane. Who is going to repport his every move (He can also function as his sidekick through the adventure)
- The PC has taken the Track Feat, so I he will be joining the hunts and the patrols, and the elves, will start to like him (Chaotic good, Charisma 16) Additionally he will be deemed worthy because of his darkvision.
- Maybe have The Eldreth Veluuthra (who operate in TT) conspire to murder some of the 2% human living in the city – do they summon demons?
Any Ideas? Maybe you have some experience with solo-DMing – His social skills are good and I would like for him to be able to gather info and buy items that will make his quest easier. It is not integral, that the quest is done in TT – maybe in the abyss? But he is only 5th level.
