Hong is "participating in a solo adventure" right now, if you know what I blah blah blah.

(no real help. sorry. in my experience the solo adventures I've seen were rather like Choose Your Own Adventure books with some dice rolling but I haven't seen anythingn like that since, well, since computers could help you play a game)

I'd agree with Eric...you're pretty much stuck with choose-your-own-adventure books or computer games.

However, there are some great books out there...even on the internet.

Project Aon is a great site that has put a ton of formerly out of print books back into the reach us the average joe. I've played through ...probably the first five of these books in real life, and now when I'm bored, i can finally continue the series!!!

I remember a time when I was between campaigns and tried to play D&D by myself. My wife (when we had just started dating around this time) thought I was pathetic and started playing D&D with me. We have been playing 1-on-1 campaigns for the last 8-9 years now (of course our game often gets lower priority than the multi-pc groups I run, one of which she is also in).

I don't think this helps at all, just thinking out loud.

Wasn't there an option in the 1st edition DMG that allowed solo play? If I remember rightly, it was a lot of work as you had to roll up the dungeon and encounters as you played.

If you have the CDs with Dragon issues 1-250, the third issue of Strategic Review had charts for random dungeon generation for solo play.

Wyvern's Claw had some things for a solo rogue, and at one point in time they were planning such solo adventures for all the classes; alas things have been very quiet at Wyvern's Claw--they seem to have quietly passed on...

I'm playing 1 on 1 right now with a friend. He's a half-elf ranger, but we're using my own homebrewed stuff--that way we can meet each other's expectations exactly! Combat's not a huge thing for the PC, so things seem to working out nicely.
