Solo Adventures

In re-reading my Pathfinder Beginner Box, I got to wondering if solo adventures were something that people would want.

Would you sit down and play a solo adventure? If so, what would you like and/or expect from it? What rules set would you like to see? Would you rather it be a traditional book (turn to entry #x) or something electronic like an App with a die roller and a more hidden "go to x" system?

I would, if they were actually good, eg they had some pathos like the one in the Mentzer Basic set, decently written, and written for a mature audience (me), which doesn't mean Excessive Grimdark, it means some NPCs with actual personalities, maybe eg a bit of romance along with the hack & slash, with a variety of possible paths and resolutions. It would need to go beyond the sort of Fighting Fantasy dungeoncrawl that has been superceded by CRPGs, and take advantage of the text medium.

What would likely be ideal would be a cool solo adventure, then enough info at the back to let the reader run it as a regular tabletop session, either as a retelling or a sequel. That would be best of both worlds, playing the solo is potentially a great way to set the GM up for running the adventure. This would be a far better approach to the Pathfinder APs than including the short story fiction they currently do, which is of no use or interest to me.

Likewise, If the tabletop adventure was longer and the solo short, the solo adventure could be a prequel to the adventure.

I think that market is pretty well served by CRPGs.

In fact, quite honestly, I'm disappointed that Old Republic wasn't a solo adventure RPG.

Blizzard Pass is the best solo module, and it's decent.

What would I prefer? Something like King of Dragon Pass. Not necessarily as extensive, but something along those lines as far as plot generation goes.

You might check in to Mythic Game Master Emulator (@RPGNow).
It's a $7 PDF that, pretty effectively, can remove the need for a GM. This works best as a 2-players no-GM game, IMO, but I think it can be used for one-player no-GM games.

I have played the first couple modules of Kingmaker myself. I like the building that much (same reason I am in two building PbP games right now, though they do not use the same system as Kingmaker) .
