My particular favorite is the US Mint's advertisement for their 2-sided die - simply heroic.

You should know, all these advertisements are from the 70's and 80's. You probably shouldn't try and order anything or get involved in any PBEM games.

Man, I was transported back in time by those. I used to get a copy of Dragon and read it cover to cover till it was threadbare.

Good times, good times. Sadly, the internet has killed off this kind of fun -- it is far to easy to get details on things these days! Not that I'd want to go back ...

I would LOVE to go back to the days when we had to turn to these magazines for resources. it made them RARE. Grabbing a treasure trove of these was like grabbing a magic item or treasure YOURSELF in a game. Often it was the only real fun the DM got to have. Now, EVERYTHING is available through the internet which does the same thing for magic items, traps, treasure, and any other material as modern day has done to magic in D&D... too common and too accessible. We've become desensitized. It's sad. :.-(

Actually, I have a MASSIVE dragon magazine collection. If you can name an article, ad, or Dragonmirth you wish to see again, I can probably find it.

STR & DEX (JOCKS) VS INT & WIS (NERDS)

A Cleric and Wizard stand at a portal to the Nine Hells. The Cleric creates water and the Wizard casts Ray of Frost on the water.

Their Barbarian companion asks, "What in the Nine Hells are you doing? Let's just go in and kill!"

The Wizard holds up the snowball they've created and says, "We were told we stood a snowball's chance in Hell, so we're calculating our odds."
