Some adventure premises

First Post
Just short things that might be adventures for your group. Feel free to contribute your own.

Presented as three parts:

HOOK: How the Justiciars get involved.
MYSTERY: How it appears on first investigation.
SECRET: What's really behind it.

HOOK: A writer has been kidnapped, and loved ones are concerned.
MYSTERY: How did he encounter the devil? Why would the devil take him?
SECRET: The devil took him away. Devil (in Catholic theology) is incapable of true creativity, so he copies from someone with creativity. Writer doesn't have a high opinion of himself, so he went willingly. Otherwise, someone truly creative could be working for the devil.

HOOK: Several people are ill, from loss of blood.
MYSTERY: An encounter or two with vampir and thralls. But where is it hiding? He always looks freshly groomed--but vampirs can't cross running water...or can they?
SECRET: Vampir is in a cistern, filled with water.

HOOK: Tourist disappears on a cruise around the Greek islands.
MYSTERY: Where did he go? He was an art critic. Nearby construction dredged up a perfect statue of him.
SECRET: Gorgon has home on island, but some of the statues are actually golems. Insulted the host, was turned to stone, thrown into the sea, where he sank. (Would need a writeup of the Gorgon.)

HOOK: A priest defrauded of his church's money; Justiciars get involved because defrauded priest is (a) a friend, or (b) they're available or (c) one of them has former police experience.
MYSTERY: When they get to the con man's hiding spot, it is protected by undead pawns and gnats.
SECRET: Con man is actually a Rakshasa, and in fact everyone the Justiciars deal with from his group is actually the same one, changing shape.

Those are some fun ideas! I especially like the one with the rakshasa. The one with the gorgon also raises ideas!

I tend to get ideas from the news - just take anything kind of weird that happens and ask myself, "What if that were caused by a demon?" For example, last summer in California there was a spot on the ground, about as large around as a campfire, that was giving off smoke without a fire. The ground temperature was measured at about 800 degrees, and no cause for that was ever found. Sounds like a case of underground hellfire to me!
