Some feat ideas

Geoff Watson

First Post
I had some feat ideas, so I thought I'd see what everyone thought of them:
They are intended to reduce the item dependency at high levels.

Ubiquitious Resistance [General]
You don't need magical help with your saving throws.
Prerequisites: Character level 3+
Benefit: You gain a resistance bonus on saving throws equal to your character level divided by three, to a maximum of +5.

Sword of the Master [General, Fighter]
"The true master knows that a sword is just a sword."
Prerequisites: BAB 3+, Weapon Focus
Benefit:When you weild a weapon that you have the appropriate Weapon Focus feat for, it gains an enhancement bonus equal to your BAB divided by 3, to a maximum of +5.

So, what do you think?

By reducing item dependency at high levels, you are leaving extra money for the players to buy more powerful items of a different nature.

For example, the feats you describe, remove the need for weapons, and cloaks of resistance. Instead of spending money on them I'll get myself some uber armour and shield etc.

In addition you've just freed up slots for magic items (cloak for example). So that allows a cloak of displacement as well, for example.

That aside, if you are trying to lower the amount of magic items in the game then it might be okay.

You should be more speicifc in the Resistance feat to mention that the modifier changes as the character gains levels (or is it supposed to be set at the level it is taken?)

The magic weapon feat does not take into account damage reduction, is that what you wished? And does it's bonus increase with levels?

Change the level changes to every 4th or 5th level and perhaps it would be better. Your feats "top out" at 15th level. Feats (IMO) should go the full 20 levels.

I wouldn't allow these personally, since it leaves a lot of little holes, however I'm pretty harsh with things like that.
