Some news about EN World Players' Journal?

sotterraneo

First Post
I have noticed the first (for a distributor) mention of the ENW Journal in the January issue of Game Trade Magazine. I suppose that the line up of articles for the first issue is completed. What about giving us some info about its contents? I know that my friend Danilo Moretti will make the cover... but I know nothing about the articles.

By the way, I have already ordered a copy

Cool! Danilo made the cover?!?!? That is FANTASTIC!!! I'm an old pal of Danilo (see the Faces sub-site of Planewalker for more info and am estatic that he's landed this gig! :) To make it all the better, I've got an article in the Journal to boot! :D

WOO HOO!

Here's a rough draft of the cover (the layout will be along these lines, and the cover art shown is Danilo's cover art for Issue 1). Note that the art *is* much higher resolution than shown below - I was just trying to keep the file size down for posting.

The cover art will give a clue as to an article by Matt "Cyberzombie" Blakely (who wrote The Elements of Magic).

And here are some of the articles you'll find in Issue 1:

Publisher Contributed Materials (6 pages each):

  • Skyships and Airmen (Bastion Press)
  • Places of Interest - Targ Ak’ala Beng, Goblin Keep (Mystic Eye Games)
  • Cave Elves (Goodman Games)
  • Drinking Rules (Natural 20) [This is the only non-original item in the mag - I know we said it would all be original, but I really wanted to get these rules out there, and I think that they are a very useful standalone piece]
  • Consequence of Vice (adventure) (Green Ronin)

Community Items

Foreword by Eric Noah - "A Community of Gamers"

Note that a couple of the following may end up in Issue 2 rather than Issue 1.

  • Extended Alchemy by Matt Blakeley
  • Ambience Events by Kevin Chenevert
  • No Wood? No Metal? No Problem! by Chris Scaturo
  • Bartholomew - Awakened Fieldmouse Wizard by Alan Kellog
  • Disgusting Little Buggers by Dave Woodrum
  • To Your Health - Diseases in the D20 System by Shane O'Connor
  • The Adventurer's Guide to Surviving Anything by Ryan Nock & Peter Ball
  • Two of Blades by Ryan Nock
  • The Traders Den by Robert Kai
  • Heroic Hideaways by Brannon Hollingsworth
  • Mage Lily by Nik Palmer

Cartoons by V Shane

Ours is one detailed place, a goblin keep that can be plugged in anywhere but is near Bluffside for the sake of MEG, it will have two pics by artist Scott Purdy and a great map by Skeleton Key Games Ed Bourelle. The text is written by Curtis Bennett, one of the lead writers for Bluffside and lead writer of The Artificer's Handbook. This will be a great area and is detailed enough for a mini-adventure or just a very detailed, very cool POI.

RETRO!

The cover SO reminds me of the old Dragon Magazines from 1980 or thereabouts.

I LOVE IT.

(Another point where I disagree with Psion - BIG points for nostalgia!)
