some Questions (new to D20 Modern)

I hope you can help me out. In two days we will play D20 Modern (I play an 5th level Investigatortype-Mage) and severall things came to my mind.

Scribe Scroll & Brew Potion:

The Wealth cost seems a bit on the higher side but still ok as long as you are not able to simply buy them (same cost???). But what I find really strange is the high XP cost for Scrolls & Brew Potion.

Caster LVL * Spell LVL (*2 for Potions) would be like DnD so why did they include the Wealth DC? A factor of 15+ to DnD seems much to high, even when they wanted to have fewer Scrolls and Potions in a D20 Modern Setting.

Nonlethal Damage House-Rule:

We haven't played a D20 Modern session now but my group agrees that we don't like the non-lethal damage rules. So we sayed that we mix the Rules from DnD and D20 Modern. The hit makes Subdual Damage and when you get more damage with one hit than you have Con then you have to roll a Fort-Save (15) or you are knocked out.

Is this rule ok?

just my suggestion but since your new I would suggest sticking to the rule. Play run through it, an THEN if it's a problem address it. It may be that it is not much of a problem as you think and altering the machanics while your still learing them may become a problem.

There is the massive damage save for regular dmg too. I belive that it works the same as the nonleathal but your reduced to-1.

Thank you all!

But I still think that the XP Cost is too high even if it is intentional (75 XP for a Second Level Scroll is a bit too much :P) and the cost between Scrolls and Potions is too close for me.

But tomorrow is my fist session and we will see what happens...

Hey Baumi, there is one thing you could do. Allow spellcasters to create scrolls that only said spellcaster can activate, meaning its worthless to anyone else. Just us a similar method that crystal capacitors use.
