Double checking some things here for a game.

Boots of Striding and Springing do not stack with the spell expedious retreat, correct?

-------

If I move let's say 20ft a turn, have boots of striding and springing and then decide to run would I

a) move 120 ft [20X2X3]

b) move 100 ft [20x5]

or

c) move 40 feet [20x2]

If you're in Heavy armor, you'll move 120' (3x your speed - 40').

If you're in Medium armor, you'll move 160' (4x your speed - 40').

They double your normal speed.

The FAQ claims that a monk's "normal" speed is his speed NOT including supernatural movement.

The boots are made using Expeditious Retreat, so the extra speed from that spell will not stack.

If you follow the logic behind doubling "normal" speed for the monk, then I suppose you could argue that you double the unmodified speed for folks in armor, and then reduce for the armor.

I think that's ridiculous.

Simply double the speed of the character not including any spells or items they might have that changes their speed. It's simple, it's easy, it's non-ambiguous, it follows the rules.

Is this in the erratta or FAQ or something? Or is this a house rule that "everyone" uses?

It's stated somewhere - forgive me for not looiking it up. You'll find it implied, at least, in the rules for stacking.
