Somebody recommend me an MMORPG,

JRRNeiklot

First Post
please.

I've decided to finally bite the bullet and try an online RPG. What's the most fun game to play? I've been playing the Warcraft 10 day trial, and so far I like it. I'm really not interested in pvp, though, and I've heard I won't have much to do at higher levels. I need some recommendations. Keep in mind it must be fantasy, though I don't mind guns and such, if it's kept to the level WoW has or less. So what's good? Guild Wars? Dark age of Camelot? Evercrack 2? Or should I just stick with WoW?

Thanks in advance.

With World of Warcraft, pre-expansion, if you didn't raid, you'd eventually have to PVP to have something to do.

With the expansion, there's enough content to go for a while, just doing quests and dungeons with groups. If you start today, and play both the Alliance and Horde storylines (you could even play characters of each race that has their own starting area and play those storylines, too), you likely won't be "done" before the next expansion is out.

The biggest appeal of MMORPGs is finding people to play with, even if you don't play regularly with friends. By that measure, it's amazing how many people you know who play WoW, even if you don't realize it.

Barring WoW, City of Heroes/City of Villains are both fun for a few months, if you like superheroes.

From my experience -
DDO: Most like the D&D you know, teamwork is almost necessary for each quest; lots of characters end up looking the same
EQ2: Too much waiting around for things to spawn. Great graphics, but character modeling is the worst of any.
CoH/CoV: Pretty, has flight and good team-with-anyone style of play; quests start getting repetitive; characters are slick!
WoW: Lots o' kiddies; lots o' serious players; everyone seems only as reliable as long as the quest is going well; finding the same group to team with may take a while; everyone looks like an alien, but perfectly fashioned aliens.

Guild Wars

HI there,

Try Guild Wars. Great servers, free to play, brilliant looks and it is good fun to start with.

After a while you'll want to have some friends to play with, but overall, the game is really great and the visuals the most interesting.

Hope this helps.

As a Guild Wars player I too second that motion. It's a good game, has no monthly fee, largely does away with the leveling grind of other RPGs and generally stays interesting.
