Yup! Been there, seen that (I mostly DM).
As a side note... I have a question. How do I know if someone is an old-fart grognard D&D'er like myself? Answer: A bunch of old citidel miniatures (some painted, some not), a simple drawn-out battle map, and a "chewy" yellow d8 (where you had to fill in the numbers with a crayon), are the focus of the table.
