Sons (and Daughters) of D20!

I started wondering, just how many games can trace their lineage back to the 3.0 SRD.

Lets try to make a list:

Spycraft
Traveller d20
Mutants and Masterminds
Conan (Mongoose)
Call of Cthulu d20
D20 Modern
D&D 3.5
True 20
Fantasycraft
D&D 4E
Pathfinder

And about 1000 I am forgetting!

What are the rest?? And what did you think of them?

Wheel of Time
Star Wars

Anything else depends on how you define "trace their lineage back to the 3.0 SRD". How about "complete games (without the need to use the 3(.5) PHB) using classes and levels and the D20 + bonus base mechanic"?

RCFG obviously can be added to your list, and there would be no Labyrinth Lord, OSRIC, Swords & Wizardry, etc. without the SRD and OGL.

Arcana Unearthed/Evolved
Fading Suns had a d20 version, IIRC.
Chaosium released a (horrible) d20 version of Elric/Stormbringer.

(You may have needed a 3.x PH or DMG for some of those last batch, though.)

Mongoose had several d20 based games -- I think their original Babylon 5, Starship Troopers, Slaine, Lone Wolf, Armageddon 2089, a bunch of "OGL: Genre" games, their version of Macho Women With Guns, and maybe others were all d20-based. Not 100% sure, though, since I didn't buy or play any of 'em.

Some of these should only be considered separate systems to the same extent as, well, some of those in the OP (and since.) ;)

Microlite20
McWoD
Darwin's World
BESM d20
Grim Tales
A Game of Thrones

. . . and a whole bunch of others.

Yes, that 3.0 SRD was been fertile indeed.

When I update the list, I might try to organize, something like:

Stand alone game with D20 mechanic (ie arcana evolved)
Almost stand alone game with D20 mechanic (spycraft 1.0)
OGL game that does not use D20 mechanic (Labrynth Lord)

Clearly, there are some grey areas. Is Dragonstar a supplement or an almost stand alone game? Does Castles and Crusaders use the D20 mechanic or is it really a proto retroclone?

Farscape d20
World of Warcraft d20
Legend of the 5 Rings d20 (does that count? It used the OA book)
Demonstone

I'm assuming we are avoiding online-only d20 games?

IMHO I'd say that if they printed the SRD in the rulebooks it could be eligible to go on the list.

It uses the OGL, which is printed in the back of the books. However, a LOT of changes were made to it for it to become a "proto retroclone." That being said, you still see some familiar elements, even if they're in a different form.
