Sometime soon, I dunno when exactly, I'm planning on running a one-shot adventure with some pregens, and then doing it again with the same pregens but different players a week or two later. I am all excited about this, because other than "Bill in Three Persons" I've never run the same adventure more than once.
Anyway, the hook I've come up with for these pregens is they're all arcane casters. I'm thinking of making up a warmage, a bard, a wu jen (specializing in exotic metal spells), maybe a warlock. And also, a halfling sorcerer. All 7th level.
The setting is going to be nominally Eberron, and this halfling sorcerer is going to have the "Dragonmarked Sorcerer" feat, which puts the dragonmark effects on his spells known list? From that one issue of Dragon. Now normally this is verboten, but for the one-shot I'm going to bend the rules and make him a Jorasco sorcerer, so Cure Light Wounds and Cure Serious Wounds go on his spells known list. I just like the idea.
Anyway, I was thinking it'd be neat to make this sorcerer a necromantic sorcerer, which is a combo I haven't seen often and which reminds me of Xykon the lich in Order of the Stick? And I came up with this spell list --
1 Cure Light Wounds (bonus)
1 Ray of Enfeeblement
1 Chill Touch
1 Cause Fear
1 Spirit Worm (from Spell Compendium)
1 Shield (the only non-necromantic or healing spell on the list)
2 Spectral Hand
2 False Life
2 Ray of Sickness (from Spell Compendium)
3 Spider Poison (from Spell Compendium)
3 Vampire Touch
3 Cure Serious Wounds (bonus)
I envision this character as either dealing touch attacks with spectral hand, or shooting rays. He gets three feats, and right now I'm thinking Dragonmarked Sorcerer and Spell Focus Necromancy and Point Blank Shot.
Anyway, I want the character to be fun to play for the one-shot, and am I overlooking something obvious? Besides "it's way suboptimal to take all Necromancy spells as a sorcerer"? I'm already thinking I maybe want to dump False Life, maybe trade PBS for Heighten Spell...
