Source of the Bullette?

I know that the Rust Monster from taken from a platic toy that Gary had (I had the same plastic figure). Was the Bullette likewise 'inspired' by an existing creature? I have a vauge recollection of it comeing from a dinosaur or godzilla movie, but it was so long ago...

Yes, it's from the same line of weird Japanese plastic toys. I had one as a kid before discovering D&D.
