Spam Posts

I've noticed a sharp increase in spam in the last week or so, especially on this forum. I wonder if it is just because this forum is a little slower than the others so the spam doesn't get drowned out by real threads?

Two things:

1) Spam was on the rise before EN2 came online. These things tend to come in waves.

2) For the most part, the different forums are all pretty much the same, in terms of security. One can post in Meta without an account, just so we can hear from folks who have issues and can't log in. After that, a forum's a forum, and it doesn't take anything special to post in General as opposed to Off Topic or the 4e Rules forum.

Well, I'd meant basically why it was appearing on other forums besides the Meta one. And I hadn't noticed that spam had been on the rise previously. I guess I only really noticed the increase when I saw the amount of it appearing across the other forums.

A thought: is posting the word 'reported' to these type of threads useful? To me it just seems to bump them to the top of the list. I'd rather not see these; I can find my own p0rn just fine, thanks.
